Update on Wildfire in Boiling Spring Lakes: We’re pleased to share that all roads in Boiling Spring Lakes are now open, and all evacuation orders have been lifted. Thank you to the residents of BSL for your patience, cooperation, and resilience during this time. Please note that this is still a working fire, and crews remain on scene. Smoke may still be visible, and air quality may be affected in some areas—please continue to use caution. - Posted 5/3/25 – 2 PM – Hwy 87 is closed again. Conditions worsened with a pick up in wind. BHI has been asked to assist. We have 3 PSOs at the scene. We remain fully staffed on the island. - Posted 5/3/25 – 7:40 AM – BHI PSOs were released from the fire last night a bit before 10:00 p.m. The fire appeared to be contained. HWY 87 was expected to be closed overnight due to the smoke that was lingering, and reopened this morning.
- Posted 5/2/25 – 6:30 PM –MAINLAND ROAD CLOSURE – Due to a wildland fire at Boiling Spring Lakes, HWY 87 through Boiling Spring Lakes is closed. The Village’s Department of Public Safety is assisting with the fire. Check Brunswick County Sherrif’s Office social media for traffic updates. https://www.facebook.com/brunswicksheriffNC
- There is a private alley between Chicamacomico Way and Currituck Way. All vehicles (including golf carts) are prohibited from passing through this alley.
MAINLAND ROAD PROJECTS
- N.C. 133 is expected to be closed for several months starting on December 14, 2024. The NCDOT webpage (HERE) has updates and a map of this project.
- E. Moore Street in Southport, near the Deep Point Marina, has been closed since September 2024. According to NCDOT, repairs were scheduled to start on 12/9/24 (view on the NCDOT map HERE).
