Prior to working for the Village, Daralyn was stationed in Ketchikan Alaska and Oak Island NC while serving in the US Coast Guard and in July of 1998, she came to work for Bald Head Island Limited. Daralyn was initially hired with the Village as the Permit Clerk/CAMA LPO to work in the Development Services Department in 2007. In early 2010, she assumed the responsibilities of Utility Billing, Tax Collector, Beach Committee Staff Liaison, Park and Recreation Committee Staff Liaison, assumed the responsibilities of the Creek Access permitting and became the Deputy Clerk. In 2014, Daralyn was promoted to the Village Clerk where she continues to grow and learn in her role.
Under the direct supervision of the Village Manager, Daralyn maintains all Village contracts, vital records, prepares agendas, packets and minutes for each meeting, certifying and recording of proclamations, resolutions, and ordinance codification when passed by the Council, processes confidential information regularly, maintains custody of the Village seal and maintains her Notary Public qualifications. She is responsible for posting meeting schedules and legal notices for Committees, Boards and Council as required by North Carolina State Statutes. She provides administrative support to the Elected Officials, Department Heads, Citizens and Visitors, assorted Boards, Committees and Task Forces, coordinates arrangements for receptions, retreats, and other functions. Daralyn is a Certified North Carolina Municipal Clerk through the UNC School of Government and continues that certification through continuing education courses offered across the State.
Daralyn also serves as part of the Emergency Operations Team during an emergency in an effort to keep Council, Staff, and Citizens aware of the current status of the Island and to maintain adherence to statutorily required notices, meetings and minutes.
