Job Title: Full-time Public Services Specialist

Hourly Hiring Rate: $17.26 with an increase after completion of 6 month probation 

Work Schedule: Sunday thru Thursday 5:30am – 2:30pm, may include occasional paid overtime

Deadline:  Open until filled

Perform maintenance duties including repairs of streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, buildings, grounds, and beach access points. Grounds and park maintenance to include picking up litter debris, trimming trees, and shrubs, and laying mulch. Help with preparation for a variety of special events and celebrations. Work involves operating a variety of tools and equipment. Work is performed in both inside and outside environments, in extreme weather, and exposure to various hazards conditions. Operates construction equipment such as dump trucks, garbage trucks, flail mower, loaders, tampers, trenchers, air compression driven equipment, and other related light and medium equipment; performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.

Graduation from high school and 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have a valid NC Driver’s License

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 50 pounds of force frequently; and 20 pounds constantly. Must possess the visual acuity to operate mobile equipment such as the loader and dump truck in a safe manner.

Job Title:  Public Services Project Manager

Salary Range: $58,495 – $64,490 based on qualifications 

Work Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday, with the opportunity to flex schedule

This is a new position and is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys developing and growing a new position. Perform advanced professional work planning, design and overseeing construction, and administering capital improvement projects.  Review and approve projects, and develop a five-year Capital Improvement Program. Provide technical and administrative support for infrastructure and public improvement projects and systems, including beach access areas, facilities, parks, roads, stormwater, water systems, and sewer systems. Reports directly to the Public Services Director.

Associate degree in civil engineering or related field and some experience working in construction and maintenance operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer Project Management experience and two or more years of complex Project Management related experience preferred.  Experience in developing RFQ’s and RFP’s. Working knowledge of Access databases, ArcGIS, Work Order Systems, and Excel spreadsheets.  Must have a valid NC Driver’s License and pass pre-employment drug screening.
