Shipping/Postal Clerk (Full-Time) – The Village of Bald Head Island is accepting applications for a full-time Shipping/Postal Clerk for the Island Package Center (IPC). Looking for a customer service-oriented person, to provide postal and packaging services to the public. Sort mail, affix postage, weigh boxes, help customers bring boxes to golf carts, unload, and re-stock deliveries in the storage room. Previous customer service experience stocking or shipping preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License, and pass a pre-employment drug test, and criminal background check.
Starting Hourly Rate & Work Schedule: $18.13 with a 5% increase after a 6-month probationary period. Work schedule is five days per week. All IPC staff is required to work a rotating Saturday schedule.
Great benefit package: Includes paid health insurance, paid vacation, holidays, and sick time. All full-time employees become members in the Local Government Retirement Plan and 401k plan. The Village pays for ferry transportation and parking.
Requires: HS graduation or equivalent. Experience with customer service in a postal or packaging setting preferred. Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to reach and occasionally lift 70 lbs.

Financial Analyst (Deputy Finance Director) – The Village of Bald Head Island is seeking a highly qualified person for the newly approved Financial Analyst (Deputy Finance Director) position. This person will perform analytical, administrative, and fiscal control work. Including general ledger accounting, budgetary accounting, financial research, revenue forecasting and financial reporting. Provides financial support in budget management, accounting controls. Work is performed in accordance with established professional standards, government financial procedures and NC General Statues governing responsibilities of government fiscal operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Finance Director. Must have a valid Driver’s License, pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.
Starting Salary commensurate with experience: $68,530 – $85,663
Great benefit package: Employer paid individual health, dental and vision insurance, 14 paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. All full-time employees become members in the Local Government Retirement Plan and 401k plan with a 5% employer contribution to 401k. The Village pays for ferry transportation and parking. Relocation allowance negotiable. A salary increase of 5% after successful completion of a six month probation, annual longevity check, annual COLA and Merit increases. Tuition assistance, professional membership fees and training opportunities available after the probationary period.
Desired Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration and professional experience in accounting, preferably in the public sector or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirement: Prefer CPA or Local Government Finance Officer certification from the School of Government.

Public Safety Sergeant ~ Internal Posting
The Village of Bald Head Island is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Sergeant. Responsible for leading a shift in the operations of fire suppression, law enforcement, emergency medical rescue services to protect the lives and property of the Village, resident, and visitors of Bald Head Island. Assist with training new employees and leading newer officers and acting as the shift supervisor when the Lieutenant is absent. Work requires current knowledge on policies and procedures, the ability to participate in incident response, respond to emergency and acute medical incidents, and provides patient care, patrols streets.
Considerable knowledge of the hazards of Public Safety work. Working knowledge of modern methods of attacking fire emergencies, law enforcement principles and practices, incident response including response to hazardous material spills,
Must demonstrate good judgement, initiative, and calm control in stressful situations. Must possess good communication skills and the ability to be tactful and decisive in all interactions.
High School graduation or equivalent, supplemented by training courses in law enforcement, firefighting, or emergency management and experience working as a law enforcement officer, firefighter or emergency medical responder, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Valid Class B NCDL, BLET certification, paramedic certification and approved to practice by County Medical Director firefighter certification, Hazmat certification, NIMS 100, 200, and 700 certificates. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
