Golf Cart Registration Renewal System Update

On November 24, islanders received an announcement regarding the Village’s new golf cart registration renewal system for 2026.  If you did not receive that announcement, you can view it HERE

The registration invitation letters went out today (12/8).  Village staff have been updating the Village’s “Golf Cart/Electric Vehicle Registration” webpage regularly, and have added a few Questions and Answers at the bottom of the page (view HERE).

Please find below the Q&As posted on the Village’s website:

Q: I do not think the Village has my current mailing address. What do I need to do?

A: It is too late to change your mailing address for the invitation letter. For now, we are collecting updated addresses. Please provide the name under which your carts are registered, BHI address, old mailing address, and new mailing address to: public.information@villagebhi.org.

Q: I have not received the invitation letter with the PIN #. How can we get our PIN?

A: The vendor has confirmed that invitation letters are being sent on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Q: I have recently moved to the island, and my information is not in the system. What do I need to do?
Q: I have a new golf cart that is not registered yet. What do I need to do?

A: The Village will be posting registration information for golf cart owners who have recently purchased/taken ownership of new or used carts. The Village will focus on processing renewals first. Enforcement will be suspended until all cart owners have been given ample opportunity to register and receive their stickers. We will post registration info on this webpage and push out regular updates via our social media and e-blasts. In the meantime, please make sure your carts are insured and meet the specifications outlined in the Village ordinance.

Q: Can I have my stickers sent to my property manager?

A: The Village has confirmed with the vendor that cart owners will be able to specify the mailing address for stickers when checking out the shopping cart at the payment transaction. Also confirmed is that a fulfillment letter will be included with the stickers when they are mailed to the specified address. The letter will include a list of all the carts by year, make, model, color, sticker numbers, and owner name so the property manager can match up the stickers with the correct carts.

Per the vendor, if a resident wants their stickers mailed to their property manager, the resident must enter that name and address information by clicking on the red edit button in their shopping cart. Instructions are provided in the shopping cart. When they save the edit, it will filter into their “system” record, which will then filter into the fulfillment report as the sticker mailing address.

The Village reached out to island property managers to ensure they are aware of the new system and to verify whether they will accept delivery of the stickers on behalf of property owners at their mailing addresses. The Village’s webpage will be updated to reflect the responses from island property managers and is located at the bottom of the webpage.

The Village will be in communication with Islanders throughout the process via our Village’s Voice e-mails and our social media channels.  We will continue to add frequently asked questions and answers to the Village website (HERE).  Questions can be sent to public.information@villagebhi.org.
