Lead & Copper Rule
Lead and Copper Rule Revisions
The Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) amend the Lead and Copper Rule. All community and non-transient non-community public water systems were required to comply with the LCRR starting October 16, 2024. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) on November 30, 2023, and published the proposed LCRI in the Federal Registry on December 6, 2023. EPA intends to finalize the LCRI by October 16, 2024.
More information from EPA on the LCRR can be found on EPA’s Review of the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation: Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) webpage.
Service Lines
The service line is the pipe that brings drinking water from the water main into your home. Village Utilities maintains a service line from the water main to the meter and then the customer maintains it from the water meter to the house.
How is Village Utilities identifying when and where to replace service lines?
Village Utilities has found no lead service lines through over 1300 field investigations. Village Utilities has developed a comprehensive inventory showing service line material in our service area using property records and visual inspection of service lines.
