Current Case Numbers for Brunswick County – As of July 8, there are 713 positive cases of COVID-19 among Brunswick County residents. Of the positive cases, 349 are considered recovered, 345 are isolating at 279 different homes, twelve are isolating at a hospital, and seven are deaths associated to COVID-19.
There are 13 cases involving non-residents who tested positive for COVID-19 while visiting Brunswick County, resulting in their contacts having to quarantine as well; these cases are not reflected in the County’s total case counts. Six of the cases are considered recovered, two are isolated at home, the County has transferred monitoring for three cases to the individuals’ home counties, and two are deaths associated to COVID-19.
NC is Still in Phase 2 – North Carolina remains under the Phase 2 extension and will be in this phase until at least July 17, 2020. Under this phase, folks are encouraged to stay at home, especially vulnerable populations. While implementing the Phase 2 extension, the Governor added the requirement that most folks wear face coverings/masks in indoor and outdoor public places where social distancing is not possible.
REMINDER – If you are on BHI and are symptomatic and have been told by a physician that you need to be tested for COVID-19, please call 911. As always, tell the 911 operator that you are on Bald Head Island. This will ensure that if you are symptomatic and need of testing that Public Safety can coordinate your care with the least amount of exposure to others. If you think you are sick, please do not come directly to the Public Safety building.

July Village Council Regular Meeting – The Village Council regular meeting will take place on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. This meeting will be held in the Public Safety Multipurpose Room. There will be limited seating available per Governor Cooper’s Executive Order and Phase 2 limitations. The Village’s Teleconference Line (1-855-369-0450 Pin 41787483) will be available for the public to use.

Cell Tower Project Update – Prior to the Independence Day holiday Crown Castle notified the Village that a new piece of equipment would need to be fabricated in order to install the friction piles. The crane was demobilized off-island until the equipment comes in. Construction is expected to resume the week of July 20, 2020.
