CodeRED Outage and Cyberattack

The Village’s emergency alert provider, CodeRED, recently experienced a targeted cyberattack that impacted their system. Some user contact information stored on the platform may have been removed and could potentially be leaked.

**While there is currently no indication that the data has been posted online, if you created a CodeRED account with a password and reused that password elsewhere, you should change those passwords on those accounts immediately to protect your security.**

If you signed up without creating a password-protected profile, no action is needed at this time.

Potentially affected information includes:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Passwords used for CodeRED profiles

CodeRED has decommissioned the old platform and is moving all customers to the new CodeRED by Crisis24 system, which was not impacted by the attack and has undergone additional security testing.

The Village will share any relevant updates as they become available. Islanders will be notified if they will need to re-register.

CodeRED has provided THIS SET OF FAQs for more information.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
