The National Weather Service Wilmington office is warning of possible severe storms for our area tomorrow (Wednesday, March 5, 2025). This is expected to bring damaging wind gusts over 60 mph, and a few tornadoes are possible.
According to the latest briefing, the thunderstorms will move from west to east and pass through the coastal areas later in the morning and in the afternoon (11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).
Village Operations for 3/5
Village offices will be closed on Wednesday, March 5, with office staff working remotely. This includes Public Safety administration. Please call 911 if you need a Public Safety Officer to come to you. The Island Package Center and Post Office will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Guidance for Islanders
- Islanders should take measures to tie down or move indoors any items that could blow away in high winds.
- Islanders should review guidance on what to do before, during, and after a tornado HERE.
- Islanders should be cautious while driving on Village wynds tomorrow. While the rainfall is expected to be 0.5 inch – 1 inch, the wind impact may bring down tree limbs and debris.
