If you experience an outage on Bald Head Island, you can report it to Duke Energy in the following ways:

• Visit duke-energy.com on a desktop computer or mobile device. 
• Use the Duke Energy mobile app – Download the Duke Energy App from a smartphone via Apple Store or Google Play. 
• Text OUT to 57801 (standard text and data charges may apply). 
• Call the automated outage-reporting system, at 800-419-6356 for Duke Energy Progress. 
• Visit the interactive outage map to find up-to-date information on power outages, including the total number of outages systemwide and estimated times of restoration.  Outages appear on the map based on customers notifying Duke Energy of the power outage at their location.

Sign up for Duke Energy phone, email, or text alerts – With outage alerts, Duke Energy will notify you by text, voice message, or email when there is an outage in your area. They will send estimated restoration times, any information they have about the cause of the outage, and the status of the crews working to restore power. Island residents suggest cleaning out your refrigerators and freezers of food in case there is a long-term power outage. Spoiled food is not a pleasant item to take care of when it is inside your home. Empty and turn off ice makers as well.
