GO Bond Town Hall – The Village is holding a GO Bond Town Hall on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.  This meeting will be held at the Public Safety Building in the multipurpose room.  Seating is limited to allow for social distancing, so folks are encouraged to attend via Zoom.  Zoom access information can be found HERE

The meeting will consist of a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.  Please send your questions to VBHITransportation@villagebhi.org by 5:00 p.m. TOMORROW, Friday, October 8, 2021.

Siren Testing – Duke Energy will be testing sirens around Brunswick Nuclear Plant on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. The full-volume 3-minute test is scheduled between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. No public action is required. More info HERE.

Next Council Meeting – Typically the Village Council meets on the 3rd Friday of the month which would be next Friday, October 15, 2021.  This regular meeting has been rescheduled for Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the multi-purpose room in the Public Safety Building. There will be a public hearing during this meeting on An Ordinance to Enact a New Section of the Village Code of Ordinances Regulating Helicopter Landings.  The agenda for this meeting will be posted HERE.  The meeting room is set up for social distancing, so space is limited.  Interested persons can attend remotely via Zoom, details can be found HERE.

REMINDERS:

Candidate Forum – The Bald Head Association (BHA) will be holding its Village Council Candidate forum on October 11, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Generator Society Hall at its association center (111 Lighthouse Wynd, Bald Head Island).  The BHA announced today that to comply with safety protocols, a maximum of 12 attendees (other than staff, hosts, BHA board members, and participants) will be allowed seating in the Association Center and that depending on the weather, the Association Center doors may be opened, with additional seating spaced out safely on the deck. Entry will be first-come, first-seated, and the line for in-person attendance will start at the sign stand at the top of the stairs. All COVID safety protocols must be followed, including wearing a hands-free face mask and social distancing.

The event will be live-streamed and recorded on the BHA’s YouTube channel. Links for both formats will be posted HERE. The forum will include two sessions, the first for council candidates and the second for mayoral candidates with a 5-minute break in between.

Annual Change from Chloramines to Chlorine – The annual change from chloramines to chlorine will be taking place from September 15th through late October/early November 2021.  Utility customers are advised that the change may result in some discoloration and the presence of sediment in your water.  These conditions are not harmful and should be of short duration.  View the Village’s full notice HERE for more information.

Halloween –Trick-or-treating will be on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. this year.  A volunteer will be collecting the addresses of those who will be handing out candy and that list will be available for pick up at the Maritime Market on October 29, 2021 (email public.information@villagebhi.org for the contact info). Click HERE for some safety tips from the Village.
