Hazardous Waste

EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2025, the Village will no longer accept hazardous waste drop-offs.  The Village will schedule specific weeks during the year for the collection of this type of waste from property owners at Public Works, and it will be promptly taken off-island.

This is a common practice among counties and municipalities on the mainland, which helps protect the collection area from contamination. The Village will add the drop-off schedule to its Trash & Vegetation Pick Up Calendar and Village Calendar, and as soon as the dates are arranged, the Village will publish this information.  The first one will likely be in Fall 2025.

During the established drop off weeks, the following hazardous waste items are accepted at the Public Works Department:

Paint, chemicals, and electronics.

When you arrive at the facility, come inside the gate, and our staff will assist you.  Public Works does not accept construction debris or yard debris.  When the gate is closed, DO NOT DISCARD TRASH OR ANY OTHER ITEMS OUTSIDE OF THE GATE.   There are receptacles outside the gate for excess household trash.  These receptacles are not meant for paint, lawn chairs, construction debris, or yard debris.  Please help the Village keep this area clean.
