The Village has received the unofficial results of the 2024 Bond Referendum for the 2025 Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Project from the Brunswick County Board of Elections. Those can be viewed HERE. The $13.5M and $4.5M referendums passed.
The Village Council’s next step will be to certify the official results at a special meeting scheduled for March 28, 2024.
The Village still needs a permit from the US Army Corps of Engineers for the 2025 project but has already received the NC Division of Coastal Management CAMA permit. The Village is expected to solicit bids from prospective dredging contractors later this spring or early summer. The project scope, funding, and any tax implications will be discussed after the Village’s coastal engineers analyze the bids and recommendations are made to the Council. This will likely take place in late summer 2024.
The Village will continue to provide updates on this project, including the status of its $4.5 million Federal grant as additional information becomes available, via our Village’s Voice announcements and monthly e-newsletter.
In the meantime, please visit the Village’s 2025 CSDR webpage HERE for project information.
