The Village is monitoring Tropical Depression Claudette, a system that is expected to strengthen back into a Tropical Storm and produce heavy rain as it approaches the North Carolina coast tonight.
According to the latest briefing from National Weather Service Wilmington, the system could develop isolated flooding rainfall, and isolated tornadoes across the area. Winds of 40 mph could occur along the beaches mainly north of Little River and over the coastal waters between Surf City and South Santee River. Conditions should improve Monday as the system moves offshore.
Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. has indicated that Claudette may impact ferry operations. The Village will share any updates it receives.
Because of the wind associated with this system, it is advised that property owners tie down outdoor items. Please stay connected to your trusted weather source for further developments and remain cautious as conditions could become increasingly hazardous.
