The Village will be testing the CodeRED notification system on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Here’s what you need to know:
- There is no need to take action if you receive the call/text/email. Emergency personnel are merely testing the system to ensure it is operational as needed, and to encourage additional residents to enroll to receive future notifications.
- This process helps us continually improve the system. Testing improves system efficiency and the speed at which notifications are delivered during an actual emergency.
- Contact us to update contact information. We will be using phone/text/email/TTY to send the test message. You will be contacted based on your preferences when you registered. If you registered before November 2025, due to the cyberattack (reported HERE), you will not be able to access your profile to make any changes. If any changes need to be made, please contact public.information@villagebhi.org.
Residents, property owners, and businesses are encouraged to register on the Village’s CodeRED webpage prior to the system test if you have not already. The more Islanders who actively add or update their contact information in the emergency database, the better the Village can protect people and property.
To find the Village’s CodeRED account webpage, click HERE or go to the Village website homepage at villagebhi.org. Once you are on the homepage, scroll down to the Safety section, where you will see a Notifications box, and click Subscribe. On the right side of the page is where you will start a new account (click register).
Questions regarding this system test and CodeRED should be directed to Carin Faulkner, Public Information Officer at 910-457-9700 ext. 1025 or public.information@villagebhi.org.
