Village updates face-covering policy for employees and visitors

In follow up to Brunswick County’s recent announcement regarding its face-covering policy, the Village will be following the County’s lead.  Face coverings will be voluntary for employees and visitors in all Village facilities effective today, November 4, 2021. This includes buildings such as the Island Package Center/Post Office, Village Hall, Contractor Services, and Public Safety.  The Village’s Public Safety personnel will continue to adhere to COVID-19 protocols set forth by OSHA and Emergency Management when responding to 911 calls and entering homes.  Individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated for COVID-19 are still encouraged to wear face coverings in all public settings per CDC and NCDHHS health guidance.

As a reminder, the U.S. Coast Guard guidelines for the ferries and trams remain unchanged and are as follows:  All employees and passengers (except children under the age of 2) are required to wear a mask: 1. While waiting to board the ferry inside the terminal gate area, 2. While boarding the ferry, 3. While inside the ferry cabin, 4. While disembarking the ferry, 5. While riding in trams.  Most importantly, social distancing should be practiced at all times.
