Reminder: Hearing on Ferry Schedule Tomorrow

Earlier this year, BHI Transportation petitioned the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) to change the hourly schedule of the passenger ferry to a 90-minute schedule. This was requested in an attempt to improve on-time performance.

The NC Utilities Commission has scheduled a public hearing for tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Brunswick County Courthouse, 310 Government Center Drive NE, Court Room 2, in Bolivia.   If you have a comment or opinion regarding the schedule change, this is your opportunity to let the NCUC know your thoughts on the matter.

A few have asked if the NCUC will accept written testimony.  The public notice states the following:

Persons desiring to present testimony for the record should appear at the public witness hearing. Persons desiring to send written statements to inform the Commission of their positions in the matter should address their statements to the North Carolina Utilities Commission, 4325 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-4300 and reference Docket No. A-41, Sub 23. However, such written statements cannot be considered competent evidence unless those persons appear at the public witness hearing and testify concerning the information contained in their written statements. Persons may also email the Commission a statement about the application via the Commission’s website at www.ncuc.gov/contactus.html. In either case, consumer statements will be placed in Docket No. A-41, Sub 23, and may be accessed by searching for that docket number via the Commission’s website.
