As of June 29, 2026, approximately 91 percent of existing golf carts had been renewed in the Village’s new registration system. As previously reported, enforcement of registrations began on July 1. We have updated our “Golf Cart/Electric Vehicle Registration” webpage with additional guidance for cart owners.
This includes:
- What to do if you have a delinquent registration.
- What to do if you paid your registration fees and have not received your new stickers.
- What to do if you are a new cart owner on BHI and have never registered a cart before, but still need to register your cart(s).
- What to do if you have registered a cart before on BHI but have purchased a new cart (or a used one that is “new” to you).
- How the golf cart equipment and specifications required in the Village’s ordinances will be enforced (inspections are no longer required).
- Guidance on keeping your profile PIN and ensuring your online profile is up to date with your billing address, property manager address (if applicable), insurance, and marking your carts as SOLD so you do not receive automatic renewal notices.
- What to do if your stickers are lost.
Please review the updated registration webpage (HERE). If all your carts have new stickers, you should be good to go for a while. It is your responsibility as a golf cart owner to keep records on these vehicles as you would your motor vehicles on the mainland. Please assist Public Safety by making sure the Village has current information about your vehicle(s) in case there is an accident, loss, or theft.
