Passenger ferry operations are resuming this morning at 8:00 a.m. after they had been suspended early-afternoon yesterday when local conditions deteriorated.
The Island Package Center and Post Office will operate on normal hours today (10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Barge service was suspended yesterday so some packages that arrived late-Thursday through Friday may not arrive to the island until Monday. Please use the package tracker (HERE) to see if your packages have made it to the island.
An initial assessment of the island found minimal tree canopy damage. Four trees were removed from the roadway and all roads should be passable with small debris and ponding in usual areas. Roads are expected to be cleared of small debris on Monday morning.
The rip current risk level is high for East Beach and moderate for South Beach. Beachgoers are advised to stay out of the water while these conditions persist. Always “know before you go” and check the beach forecast, you can do that online HERE.
This will be the last Ophelia update from the Village.
